Arginine is also a precursor to nitric oxide, a key regulator of many physiological functions, including the tone of blood vessels and therefore of blood pressure and flow. It also has antioxidant properties and helps maintain a smooth lining to blood vessel walls, helping to keep the arteries clear and free-flowing.
