Amino Acids
Amino Acids are the basic building blocks of proteins. Growth, repair and maintenance of all cells in the body is dependent on protein and therefore Amino Acids. Next to water, protein makes up the largest proportion of our body weight. There are a large number of Amino Acids, BCAA (leucine, isoleucine and valine), Argenine, Glutamine, Theanine and Cartinine to name only a few.
All play an essential role in the proper functioning of the body. They can however be basically split in to two distinct groups:
Essential Amino Acids - These Amino Acids cannot be manufactured by the body and must be obtained from either food or supplements.
Non Essential Amino Acids - The body is able to manufacture these Amino Acids from other sources.
